How to get to Kuching?

For your information Kuching is the Capital of Sarawak and Sarawak is a State in Malaysia. To get to Kuching you have options of flight routes as follows:

  • From other destinations around the world, you can fly to Kuala Lumpur (Capital of Malaysia) and then take another flight direct to Kuching.
  • You can also fly to Singapore and take another flight direct to Kuching or Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and then to Kuching.
  • There are also flights from Hong Kong direct to Kuching.
  • Likewise from Australia then are flight available directly from Perth to Kuching.
  • The other route that can also be taken by some Asian Countries is to take a flight from their country to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and then board another flight direct to Kuching.
  • If you are from Brunei, can fly direct to Kuching or take a bus to Miri and then fly to Kuching.
  • Likewise you can also board a flight to Brunei Darussalam and fly direct to Kuching from there.

Airline Servicing Sarawak

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) operates between Australia & NZ (PER/ADL/MEL/SYD/BNE/AKL) – 54 flights to Kuala Lumpur per week. Between Kuala Lumpur and Kuching, more than 10 flights per day. MAS operates once daily flight between Kuching-Singapore service; flights from Kuching to Guangzhou and Hong Kong are via Kota Kinabalu. Malaysia’s budget airline, Air Asia, operates frequent flights to Kuching from Kuala Lumpur (9x daily), Johor Bharu, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Macau (3x weekly), Bali (3X weekly) and Jakarta (3X weekly). Staring 2nd November 2008, Air Asia will start their flight between Kuala Lumpur and Perth (6X weekly). www.airasia.com

With all these connections, it is so easy to get to Kuching and Miri in Sarawak with plenty of combination and choices.

  • Kuala Lumpur – Kuching : 1 hour 45 min (MAS and Air Asia)
  • Singapore – Kuching : 1 hour 15 mins (Malaysia Airlines, SilkAir, Singapore Airlines, Tiger Air, Jet Star)
  • Kota Kinabalu – Kuching : 1 hour 15 mins (MAS and Air Asia)
  • Brunei – Kuching : 1 hour (Royal Brunei Airlines)
